Cloud Platform Engineer (Lead Software Engineer) - Investment bank

Alexander Ash are currently working with a global financial organisation who are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join their multi-disciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for any Software Engineer who is dedicated and will seek to identify improvements and efficiency's, while utilising new technologies and existing tools as the organisation takes on one of it's biggest bodies of work.

The role:

You'll be working as part of Market Valuation and Risk Management (MVRM) Technology area inside Risk, Finance, and Treasury. MVRM systems enables the bank's risk functions and trading businesses to calculate, generate, analyse, and report on the Bank's major risk and capital metrics to their regulators.

Tech Stack:

Their technologies includes Java, C, C++, PostGres, OracleDB, Lua, Python, Scala, and Spark plus other products integrated into one platform.

Key responsibilities:

• Collaborating with Product Managers, user experience designers and functional analysts to understand new user-facing desktop and mobile features
• Building the required features as a member of an agile feature team
• Helping maintain code quality via code reviews
• Cooperating with our quality assurance team to ensure quality of all changes to the platform
• Creating and presenting designs and solutions as required
• Demonstrating the ability to learn and self-start when breaking new ground

What they are looking for:

• Expert with systems language (C, C++, Java, C# etc.) and excellent Python knowledge
• Expert knowledge of OS (Operating Systems), shell languages, git, SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) tooling, knowledge of SQL and strong experience with one GC language
• Strong hands-on delivery track record having architected significant component(s) and good communication and interpersonal skills
• Cloud (particularly Google) experience is advantageous
